Coral Reef Description- The coral reefs are a huge part of tourism in Fiji. They are incredibly valuable, as coral reefs in general support 25% of all marine life. The coral reef in Fiji is very big, around 3869 square miles. Conservation is currently trying to protect endangered clam beds. There are so many species in the reef that the full name of all inhabitants hasn’t been compiled. Some of the fish found include butterfly fish, jacks, triggerfish, and many more. Lots of invertebrates are also found in the reef. Hammerheads, stingrays, and sponges are abundant in the Fiji waters. The reefs themselves are fringing reefs, which means that they are really close to the shore. Fiji harbors 10,020 km squared of coral reefs. Unfortunately like the other coral reefs around the world, they are suffering from bleaching. Many believe that it the temporal increase in the atmosphere that is causing it. This is all the more reason to come an see the grand coral reefs in Fiji. Because due to certain circumstances, they might not be around in the following years.
